Traditional Worship Services

Like other Christian movements, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has always held that worship services should include the prayers of God's people, the singing of hymns and spiritual songs, Holy Communion, an offering, and a lesson from God's Word.  Our worship can best be described as traditional, liturgical, and rooted in the ancient hymns and prayers of Christ's Church.  We believe that the early Disciples met for the purpose of breaking bread and sharing a cup so that they would continually remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ; therefore, the Lord's Supper is the central, defining act of any worship service at First Christian Church and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  We welcome everyone to the Lord's Table as God has welcomed us.

Comfort Room

We welcome children in our sanctuary during our service and encourage them to stay.  At you discretion as a parent should that become uncomfortable for you, we have made a Comfort Room available for you and your infant.  The Comfort Room is located across the hall from the sanctuary.  The service is available on a TV.  There are comfortable chairs for you, a crib, and a changing table.  Should your little one be mobile enough to crawl or toddle, there are toys that can entertain and a carpeted floor.  We hope this makes church a little easier for you and your children.  And again, we encourage you to stay in the service--we don't mind little ones worshipping with us.

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

Christian Education

On Sunday mornings at 9:45, the church meets in small groups to discuss the faith, study the Bible, and to share prayers for one another.  We currently have three classes for children:  Nursery (ages 3-5), Elementary A (grades K-3), and Elementary B (grades 4-6).  We also have classes:  Men’s Bible Class, Homebuilders (Women). The Men’s Bible Class and Homebuilders use Standard's Quarterly Lesson.

Church Choirs

FCC has an adult choir which meets on Sunday mornings to practice upcoming hymns and anthems.  Everyone is welcome to come and sing in our adult choir.  If you would like more information about the adult choir, you can contact Bill.

Fellowship Meals

On the first Sunday of each month, the church gathers in the fellowship hall to enjoy a potluck supper.  This time together allows us to laugh, cry, pray, and celebrate with one another.  It’s the perfect time for us to get to know each other, and for visitors and new members to meet the church family.  Everyone is welcome, and we always have plenty of food.  Come and join us!  Please check the calendar to make sure the date hasn't been changed due to a holiday or other church event.

Summer Camp Ministry

At FCC, we make it priority to build lasting friendships within the church family.  Each year, we host a tuition free summer camp ministry for children of members, their families, and their friends.  Children and youth in grades 3-12 are invited to be a part of this faith-building experience.  For more information and camp dates, visit the church calendar or contact our camp coordinator, Pastor Frank.

Sunday Night Bible Studies

Four times a year, we host a special series of Bible studies focused on a topic or selection from the scriptures.  The studies are a casual gathering of Disciples in the sanctuary  who desire to know more about the Bible, their faith, and most of all, God.  Previous Bible studies include:  Soul Surfer, Humility Gratitude and Generosity, Worshiping With Children, and Jewish History and Thought.  If you would like to know more about an upcoming Bible study, please check out our church calendar or email the church office.
